1. Friesian  



The name of this breed was given by the land of its origin. This horse breed is originated in Friesland in the Netherlands.  This breed is surprisingly nimble and graceful.  This breed was high in demand in  Europe in the Middle Ages. The ancestors of this breed were used as war horses because of their ability to carry knights on armor. This breed nowadays is getting disappeared from more than one occasions. Breeding of this horse breed is getting minimized as compared to Middle Ages. But on contrary, in recent times Friesians have been growing in popularity again.



2. Arabian Horse



Arabian horses can be identified very easily. They have unique and distinctive head shape and high tail carriage. Due to this type of characteristics, people recognize them very quickly. This breed originated in the Arabian peninsula. Simultaneously this breed is one of the oldest of all horse breeds. There is much evidence that has traced this breed back at least 5000 years. This breed has been associated with wars and trade all over the world. 3. Gypsy Horse




The Gypsy Horse breed is originated to the British Isles. It is also known as "Irish Cob". It is particularly associated with the Roma (gypsy) traveling people of  Britain and Ireland. Until 1996, it was not considered as a breed. This breed has a unique identification looks. There is feathering below knees and flow to hooves. This feathering look made this breed prize high. The Gypsy Horse was bred by the Roma of Britain to pull the vardoes, wagons, etc. in which they lived and traveled.



4. Andalusian Horse




The Andalusian Horse is native to the Iberian Peninsula. It is also known as "Pure Spanish Horse". This breed was officially recognized as a breed in 15th Century. This horse has been recognized for its prowess as a war horse and it was highly prized by the nobility. This breed was also used as a tool for diplomacy by the Spanish Government, and Kings across Europe rode Andalusian Horses. This breed is also efficiently performing in Show-Jumping and Dressage. They have qualities like intelligence, sensitivity, and docility. They are used as warhorses.


5. Akhal-Teke Horse




This breed is favorite in Turkey. The Akhal-Teke Breed is the national emblem of Turkmenistan. They are mainly known for their speed, endurance, intelligence, and the distinctive metallic sheen of their coat. Their shiny coat has made people call them "Golden Horses". Besides being beautiful, they are actually very vigorous and adapted particularly to survive in severe climate conditions. They are thought to be one of the oldest existing horse breeds in the world.



6. Mustang Horse




Mustang horses are also called "Wild Horses". Mustangs are generally descendants of domesticated horses, so they are also called "feral Horses". This breed belongs to Spain. The original mustang horses were Colonial Spanish Horses, but as time passed this breed got mixed with other horses. Mustangs have good endurance power and are also described as "surefooted".



7. Appaloosa Horse




Appaloosa is an American Breed. It is widely recognized for its distinctive spotted coat. The Nez Perce people native to America are responsible for developing the first native breed of Appaloosa. Settlers originally referred to this breed as "Palouse Horse" most likely because of the Palouse River. The Appaloosa was named official state horse of Idaho in 1975.



8. Marwari Horse

This breed originated to Marwar (Jodhpur) region of Rajasthan in India. Marwari horses can be identified by their ears. Their ears tips have unique inward-turning. The Marwari horse is hybrid of Arabian horses and Indian ponies. These horses were used by Rajputs in their battlefields. One of the Marwari Horse "Chetak" who was owned by Maharana Pratap Singh, had supreme power and great intellectual skills.



9. Haflinger Horse

The Haflinger horse is also called Avelignese. It originated in Austria and Northern Italy. Haflingers are generally compact and chestnut in color. They have a distinctive gait that is described as being both energetic and smooth, and they are well-muscled yet elegant horses. Haflingers are mainly bred for mountain terrain and are known for their hardiness. 




10. Morgan Horse




This breed belongs to the United States. Morgan Horse is one of the earliest breeds to be developed in the United States. Morgan Horse has served in many different activities in America. Their Structure is similar to Marwari Horses. It is appreciated for the quality of being versatile.
